FRIENDS OF NORMAL HEIGHTS CANYONS

Reminder - the FNHC tour of Eugene Canyon for River Days week is this Saturday, May 15, 9:30 - 11:30, meet at the end of Eugene Place. To see the full schedule of River Days events throughout the county, go to sandiegoriver.org
For those who can stay, we'll hold our regular meeting for about a half hour right after the tour.

Big thanks to all the volunteers who participated in the FNHC Creek to Bay Clean Up on April 24! We cleaned out 682 pounds of trash and recycling - most of that weight was in the form of bmx ramps. Since the short staffed Code Enforcement department couldn't get the (caught and confessed) individuals responsible for the illegal grading/bmx ramps in the canyon to correct their violations, we had to pick up the slack.
Aside from the ramps this year, our canyons continue to get cleaner every year. We need your help to keep the canyons clean - keep an eye out for polluters and volunteer when you can.

Attached is the current watering schedule for the native plant restoration sites in Eugene Canyon - spots are still open for the summer. You can see our new (easier) watering system during Saturday's tour.

Next week is Bike to Work Week, but the official bike to work day is Friday, May 21st.

You will also be able to pick up a free copy of the NEW San Diego Regional Bikeway map as well as freebies from sponsor booths. The iCommute team will be available to answer any questions about your bike commute and how pit stops can help you refuel during your BTWD commute.
